How Christmas Celebrated in Four Countries | USA | UK | Spain | Germany

United States of America

Millions of Americans celebrated Christmas as a cultural holiday. In the United States many Americans and their families exchange presents, At the beginning of December in many households it is common to put up a Christmas tree and slowly start putting wrapped presents underneath. On Christmas day these presents finally get to be open.

For Children this is the super exciting moment because they most likely received a visit from (Santa Claus)- a large, happy man with white hair and white beard will travel the world on the night before Christmas delivering the toys and gifts to the children over they are sleeping.

Americans love to decorate their homes, yards, streets during the Christmas session. they love to decorate their homes with Christmas trees, Christmas lights, candy canes and ornaments, snowman rein deers, etc. Americans Celebrate Christmas day by listening to the holiday music and singing Christmas cuddles, sending Christmas greeting cards to friends and family, attending to religious services, and donating toys, money, and food.

On Christmas day Americans usually have a large meal with the whole family, their preferred food on Christmas is Turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, cranberry sauce, stuffing, vegetables. Cakes, cookies, eggnog.

 

Spain

In  the Spanish language, Christmas is called Navidad. The Christmas season is a big vacation and it celebrated over 12 days. Many families attend midnight mass on Christmas eve. Afterward, they walk in the streets with torches, making music and singing. On Navidad or Christmas day Spanish People greet each other by saying ( Ifeliz Navidad ) it means Merry Christmas.

In other countries like the USA, children will receive gifts from Santa Claus on the night before Christmas, but in Spain instead of Santa Claus, the Magi or three wise men bring gifts to the children on January 6th.

Their most loved food on Christmas day is seafood. Seafood is a part of traditional Christmas dinner, like fish, lobsters, sea bass fish and turbot.

 

United Kingdom

On Christmas eve people go for carol signing, attending a midnight mass or go to the pub. Carol singing is a traditional carol signing by groups from door to door. Midnight mass is some people will go to church in the evening or midnight to observe a special Christmas service. Some people love to go to the pub with family and friends to celebrate Christmas by having a drink. On Christmas eve Santa Claus will visit homes and deliver gifts to the children. In the UK it is traditional for children to leave a mince pie and milk for Santa and his Reindeers.

On Christmas day people will exchange presents, eat Christmas dinner and other Christmas food. And people pull Christmas crackers. In the UK the queen of England will give a speech on Christmas day. People will watch it on TV.

In the UK people will usually have a large meal with the whole family, their preferred food on Christmas is Turkey, pork, chicken, roast potatoes, stuffing, Brussels sprouts, pigs in blankets.

The day after Christmas day is a Boxing day (26th DEC) Boxing day is a public holiday in the UK. Most of the businesses are closed.

Germany

In German Language, Christmas is called Weihnachten. Christmas is the most loved festival in Germany. Germans love to spend their happy time with family and friends. On Christmas eve Germans take part in stage performances and they celebrate their time by singing and dancing. In Germany, Christmas season is traditionally celebrated with a church service for the religious, a Christmas troll and a large dinner on Christmas eve.  

On Christmas day Germans greet each other by saying Frohe Weihnachten, it means Merry Christmas. They decorate their homes with Christmas stars, Christmas trees, and beautiful lights. On Christmas day most of the Germans preferred food to eat is Roasted Goose.
